THE WHAKATIPU BASIN

Queenstown is a vibrant and bustling township on the edge of immense wilderness in New Zealand’s South Island. It is Stephan’s home base and his stepping off point for expeditions into the Southern Alps, Fiordland National Park, Mt Aspiring National Park, and beyond. There is a great contrast between the Romer Gallery in the centre of Queenstown and the wild and remote places Stephan photographs, yet both provide great inspiration.

For my most recent photography expedition to the Mt Crichton Loop Track, I only had to take a short drive down the road. ...

Ask any Kiwi and they will tell you the West Coast is the place to find some of the most impressive scenery New Zealand has to offer. And within the West Coast, the Haast Pass stands out as a highlight.
