Danseys Pass

Danseys Pass carves its way through the Kakanui Ranges in the heart of Central Otago in the South Island. Danseys Pass is a historic route, once trodden by gold miners in search of fortune. Today, it is a popular scenic route for tourists.

The stark rock formations and hillsides covered in golden tussocks are typical of the region’s topography. Danseys Pass links east Otago with the Maniototo plains and is a journey through the very heart of New Zealand’s South Island, serving up scenery that defines Central Otago.
