Geography

Devils Punchbowl Falls

Devil’s Punchbowl Falls is located just north of the small central South Island township of Arthur’s Pass Village. Most notable for its picturesque setting, the village is also located on one of the country’s most famous mountain pass roads. Arthur’s Pass links the wild west coast to the city of Christchurch on the east coast, crossing over the Southern Alps along the way.

While it is possible to see Devil’s Punchbowl Falls from the road, it is no substitute for getting up close and feeling the full force of this spectacular waterfall. Take the short walk through the beech forest from the Punchbowl car park.
