Moke Lake

A view of Moke Lake through the Twenty Five Mile Range. In the far distance, a glimpse of Lake Whakatipu. Lake Whakatipu is New Zealand’s third-largest lake, yet here it is dwarfed by the immense mountain ranges of New Zealand’s South Island.

Geography

Moke Lake

Moke Lake is a 10-minute drive from central Queenstown. It is a popular location for day trips with bikers and walkers enjoying the 6.5 km loop track around the lake as well as kayakers on the lake. Despite being so close to the bustling township of Queenstown, Moke Lake is a serene and calming retreat.

Here, the Twenty-Five Mile Range towers above Lake Whakatipu along the world-famous Glenorchy Road. Twenty-five Mile Range forms part of the mass of peaks and valleys of New Zealand’s Southern Alps.
