Mt Ian

Mt Ian is found in the Snowdrift Range, Mt Aspiring National Park. Behind Mt Ian is the Dart Valley with the Forbes Mountains to the left. The peak of Mt Aspiring National Park’s second tallest mountain, Mt Earnslaw (2,819m), is just visible.

Mt Aspiring National Park straddles either side of the main divide and occupies over 3,500 square kilometres in the Southern Alps region of the South Island. Together with Fiordland National Park and Westland National Park, it makes up the larger Te Wahipounamu South West New Zealand World Heritage area. Te Wahipounamu (the place of Greenstone) is 2.6 million hectares of land, safely protected thanks to its World Heritage status.
