The Olivine Ice Plateau is a glacier in Mt Aspiring National Park, an area that is home to around 3,100 glaciers. The plateau is considered one of the most difficult peaks to reach in the region due to its remote location and challenging terrain.
Mt Aspiring National Park occupies over 3,500 square kilometres in the Southern Alps region of the South Island. Together with Fiordland National Park and Westland National Park, it makes up the larger Te Wahipounamu South West New Zealand World Heritage area. Te Wahipounamu (the place of Greenstone) is 2.6 million hectares of land, safely protected thanks to its World Heritage status.
