Te Henga/Bethells Beach is found on the North Island’s west coast, just a 45-minute drive from Auckland. Black sandy beaches make the area a drawcard for visitors, however, it is often a place you can enjoy in solitude.
The area is best viewed from the Te Henga Walkway that follows the clifftops between Te Henga/Bethells Beach and Muriwai Beach. It is a stunning coastal walk and the perfect way to enjoy this wild and rocky coastline. The track is part of The Hillary Trail, a four-day self-guided walk along the coastline section of the Waitakere Ranges National Park.
